Our Philosophy |
The inspiration to succeed...
comes from within, but the guiding force into an arena never traveled comes from God. FOUR-D COLLEGE is predicated upon the belief that it is successful because the inspired vision for a College originated from God. We believe that each individual is a child of God, created in His image and likeness and possessing a dignity which is worthy of reverence, protection and preservation from the moment of conception throughout the entire life span.
The "Four D's" are...
the DESIRE to achieve, the DETERMINATION to follow through a process, the DRIVE to an energy level needed to maintain consistent efforts to accomplish desires, and DELIVER, reaching desired goals for success. We believe that in order for an individual to be successful, he or she must possess each of the Four-D components.
We believe that...
-
Persons within our school are called to compassionate service of the whole person. Further, we believe that each person is a dynamic holistic being who is continuously adapting to physical and psychosocial experiences as he or she strives toward the highest level of wellness and self-actualization. We also believe that each individual is unique because of previous choices, beliefs and experiences and makes decisions based on what is perceived to be in his or her own best interests.
- We believe nursing and allied health care services are technical, intellectual and unique processes based on scientific principles and a philosophy of caring. The objective of nursing and health care services is to meet the health needs of individuals, families and the community with an emphasis on the prevention of illness and the development of maximum physical, emotional and spiritual well- being.
- It is the responsibility of the health care professional to act as a role model while providing an environment conducive to maintaining dignity and maximizing wellness for each individual.
- We believe that education is essential in meeting the health needs of our community. The rapid changes in health care such as advanced technology, increased longevity, specialization of health services, and increased diversification within the health care industry necessitate that providers of health care continue the educational process.
- We believe that a successful program is shared by faculty, staff and students. Learning is fostered in an environment of mutual trust and respect where the learner takes an active role and faculty serve as facilitators. Learning produces measurable behavioral changes and is the responsibility of the learner as well as the faculty. In this environment, we expect to teach critical thinking skills and help students make informed decisions within the scope of their practice. We also believe that we must provide an environment of learning that will stimulate the student to seek higher levels of education.
- We believe society is more informed, better educated and willing to be more responsible for its own health. At FOUR-D COLLEGE, we believe that the student must have a DESIRE to DELIVER quality nursing and allied health care services while exhibiting a caring and compassionate attitude to the public they serve.
